A Little Tongue in Cheek

August 24, 2015 § Leave a comment

I work at home these days, mostly trying to help my special needs son learn to be more independent. Some of my friends apparently think that means I get to sleep in most days. Wrong.

Because of that erroneous impression, I got the idea to write a song about a man who seems to have it all. All, that is, except for someone to share it with. Note that the ego trip contained within these lyrics is completely tongue-in-cheek and bears no resemblance whatsoever to real life.

Someone To Share

Here I am; I’ve got the world at my feet
Sleeping in on Mondays; Man, this life is sweet
Doing what I want anytime I choose
Rolling nothing but sevens; Man, I just can’t lose
Got the world in the palm of my hand as anyone can see
The only thing I wish I had is someone to share it with me

I could leave at the drop of a hat
Go around the world in search of where it’s at
Doing what I like anytime of day
People crowd around me just to hear what I might say
Got it all right at my feet; I hold the golden key
The only thing I don’t have is someone to share it with me

(instrumental / scat verse)

I just ooze awesomeness from every pore
It’s not bragging when I say women ask for more
When I’m in Vegas I have someone else roll the dice
Presidents all call me asking my advice
I got more than any man could want; I’m the man they all want to be
The only thing that I can’t find is someone to share it with me

(Spoken:)

Oh, hey man!
Yeah, the jet’s gassed up and ready for action
Rio? Sure, why not? But do you think she’ll go?
She didn’t seem that into me.
No, the Beluga didn’t impress her, and I thought she was going to yawn when I popped the Dom ’47.
I can’t figure out how to impress her.
Be Myself? Are you kidding?
Does that really work?
Well, I’ll think about it.
Okay. Catch you later. Ciao.
