Ode to a Friend’s Car

August 4, 2015 § Leave a comment

A friend of mine is experiencing car trouble, perhaps not the greatest source of inspiration, but one never knows.

In lightly discussing the situation with another Facebook friend, we traded poetic obituaries for the car in question. This is my meager effort:

Wheels of Life

Oh, wheels of life
You took me here and there and everywhere
Without complaint, compliently, faithful to the last
Painful though goodbye will be, I must
For at last, you’ve reached your journey’s end
Your road has turned to dust
And all the miles left untraveled remain locked away
Inside wheels gone to rust.
